![]() Honda also offered the larger North American Odyssey in Japan as the Honda LaGreat between 19. Since model year 1999, Honda has marketed a larger (large MPV-class) Odyssey in North America and a smaller Odyssey in Japan and other markets. Subsequent generations diverged to reflect market variations, and Honda built a plant in Lincoln, Alabama, incorporating the ability to manufacture larger models. The first generation Odyssey was marketed in Europe as the Honda Shuttle. The result was a smaller minivan, in the compact MPV class, that was well received in the Japanese domestic market but less well received in North America. ![]() The Odyssey had originally been conceived and engineered in Japan, in the wake of the country's economic crisis of the 1990s – which in turn imposed severe constraints on the vehicle's size and overall concept, dictating the minivan's manufacture in an existing facility with minimal modification. The Honda Odyssey ( Japanese: ホンダ・オデッセイ, Hepburn: Honda Odessei ) is a minivan manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda since 1994, marketed in most of the world and currently in its fifth generation. Though I am carrying that minivan complex, it is definitely a good fit for our family at this current time.Fifth-generation Honda Odyssey second facelift I need to push down on them harder and because of the weight of the vehicle, it doesn't stop as quickly as an SUV or smaller car. If I had to nit pick the vehicle, I would say I'm not a fan of the brakes. If there was a rear end collision and no trunk space, the person in the third row would be hurt. This concerned us and we worried about the safety of whoever sat in the third row. In an SUV, the third row was typically crammed in and the trunk space was tiny. We viewed several SUV models, and we felt they didn't have the space that the Odyssey had. There is even enough room to change a diaper in it. They operate with the push of a button, and the kids can hop in and out of it with ease which is especially helpful when it's raining or there is another car next to us (no worries about hitting the other car with a door). It is stylish as it has a sunroof, which we love to open on warmer days. Our model even has a cooler in it to store drinks or to keep food cold. It is roomy - it has two rows of seating and can seat up to eight people, if needed. However, this vehicle is perfect for our family. I never wanted to have the minivan stereotype that comes with it. It was definitely not my top choice of cars. It was purchased solely because we had a third child and needed something that was family friendly and easy for the kids to get into. The kids like that they can have the temperature set to a different temperature than the driver or the passenger. ![]() We also like that is has heated seats in the front. I have not been able to use the satellite radio as it is an additional cost. One of my favorite things is that it has built-in GPS. We are spoiled by the key fob that allows us to open each of the sliding doors, open the back hatch, and roll the windows down. Another great feature is that both of the side doors open. ![]() The children like that it has blinds in the sliding doors in the back. ![]() We absolutely love that it has a little cooler in between the driver and passenger seats. We love that in the back not only is there great storage, but we have an additional compartment to stow extra things. It has three rows of seating which we took out the second row to make room for my son's wheelchair. This can has everything we need in a car plus a little extra. We have a Honda Odyssey with a vie conversion. ![]()
